Sidney senior Olivia Larsen brings the ball up the floor against an East Mills defender, Thursday, Jan. 30 while setting up the Cowgirl offense.

The Sidney Cowgirls stayed on top of the Corner Conference and did it in resounding fashion with a 55-22 win over Fremont-Mills, Friday, Jan. 31.

Sidney’s only conference loss of the season was to the Knights, but they had no trouble earning the victory this time around with a 17-3 second quarter setting the tone.

Chay Ward led Sidney with 17 points with Maddy Duncan adding 15 to go with 11 rebounds. Alexis Massey contributed eight points as the Cowgirls improved to 10-7 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Duncan added six steals and four assists. Olivia Larsen contributed five rebounds and four assists.

Sidney led 10-7 after the first quarter, and extended that lead to 27-10 at the half.

Courtney Goodman scored half of Fremont-Mills’ points with Kaelynn Driskell adding five.

Kaylee Wright controlled seven rebounds. Teagan Ewalt added five.

Fremont-Mills fell to 8-8 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
