It was another Shenandoah/Abraham Lincoln final and this one also easily went to the Mustangs, as Holmes downed Alex German 6-1, 6-0.
Lawrence and Rystrom had the toughest time of Shenandoah’s four entries as they were pushed in a couple sets but still won all six. They beat Abraham Lincoln’s Oliver Juranek and Nick Kaupa 6-2, 7-5 in the opening round and then beat Glenwood’s Graham Newberry and Myles Longmeyer 6-0, 6-2 in a semifinal. The championship match against Atlantic’s Montgomery Smith and Brock Goodrich was a 7-5, 6-2 win for Shenandoah.
The Mustangs haven’t lost a single match in eight straight competitions with their only match losses coming at the season-opening tournament in St. Joseph, Missouri. They return home Monday, May 4, for a triangular against Creston and Harlan.
