Iowa’s public universities are asking lawmakers to allocate $57.9 million over the next three years — including $16 million next year — for three building projects on their respective campuses.

The UI is requesting $20 million from the Board of Regents over three years, including $7 million in fiscal 2027, to build a new $40 million nursing simulation laboratory. The UI said it would commit another $20 million of its own money to the project from investment income, donations and departmental funds.
