The marriage of the future British queen and her consort was part of an ancient tapestry of royal intermarriage in Europe.
Plans for a major royal death are made years in advance, though details are kept fiercely private and the coronavirus restrictions in place across the UK mean some aspects will have to be altered.
Military teams across the U.K. and on ships at sea fired 41-gun salutes Saturday to mark the death of Prince Philip, honoring the former naval officer who they considered one of their own.
Prince Philip, also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, took part in planning his funeral as well as designing the modified Land Rover that will carry his coffin.
Prince Philip died at 99. Living to such a ripe old age isn't unusual for UK royals. Nor is it surprising, argues an expert on aging and longevity.
