Healthcare just got more convenient for residents across southwest Iowa. Clarinda Regional Health opened its new Community Pharmacy on Monday, June 29, 2026, expanding access to prescription services right on the hospital campus.
The pharmacy occupies Suite 1 at 210 Essie Davison Drive in Clarinda, just east of the main hospital building. During its first week of operation, the community pharmacy will maintain reduced hours from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and will be closed on Saturday.
Prescription Services for Everyone
This isn't just another hospital pharmacy. The new facility welcomes everyone in the community, whether they receive care at Clarinda Regional Health or elsewhere. Patients can transfer prescriptions from their current pharmacy, fill new prescriptions, and take advantage of delivery services designed to get medications where they need to go safely and efficiently.
"Adding a community pharmacy is another way we are working to improve access and convenience for our patients and communities," said Chuck Nordyke, CEO of Clarinda Regional Health. "We are excited to continue Advancing Exceptional Care close to home."
Making the Switch Simple
Transferring prescriptions doesn't require phone calls or complicated paperwork. Patients can submit an online RX Transfer Request Form through the Clarinda Regional Health website or call the pharmacy directly at 712-542-6774 for assistance. The staff handles the coordination with previous pharmacies, making the transition straightforward.
Once the opening week concludes, the community pharmacy will settle into its regular schedule. Monday through Friday, doors open at 8 am and close at 6 pm. Saturday hours run from 8 am to 4 pm, and the pharmacy closes on Sundays.
Rural Healthcare That Meets Community Needs
For residents of southwest Iowa, accessing quality healthcare services often means traveling to larger cities. The new community pharmacy represents another step in Clarinda Regional Health's commitment to bringing comprehensive care closer to home. The regional health center already provides emergency medicine, surgery, specialty clinics, mental health services, and rehabilitation services around the clock.
The pharmacy addition fits naturally into this model of patient-centered care. Seniors managing multiple medications, families coordinating prescriptions for children, and patients recovering from surgery or illness now have another local option for their pharmaceutical needs.
