Clarinda Regional Health Center expands access to specialized gynecology services with the addition of Dr. Amy Bingaman to its Specialty Clinic starting December 4.
For women across southwest Iowa, finding comprehensive gynecologic care close to home just got easier. Dr. Amy Bingaman, a board-certified OB/GYN with 15 years of experience serving Iowa communities, will begin seeing patients at Clarinda Regional Health Center's Specialty Clinic next month.
A Career Rooted in Service
Dr. Bingaman's path to rural healthcare began in the Chicago area, but Iowa became home during her undergraduate years at Drake University. After earning her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa, she spent 8.5 years serving in the United States Navy, completing her obstetrics and gynecology training at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
That military background shaped her approach to patient care. The discipline and dedication required in naval medicine translated into a practice philosophy centered on accessibility and comprehensive treatment. For the past 15 years, she's applied that philosophy across Iowa, providing full-spectrum OB/GYN care to women at every life stage.
Filling Critical Gaps in Rural Women's Health
"We are honored to welcome Dr. Bingaman to our Specialty Clinic," said Amy Roop, Chief Clinics Officer at CRHC. "She brings exceptional clinical expertise, a patient-centered philosophy, and a strong commitment to women's health. Her addition expands access to high-quality gynecology services close to home, and we are proud to offer this level of care to our region."
Dr. Bingaman's clinical focus addresses specific needs often underserved in rural healthcare settings. Her areas of expertise include adolescent gynecology, helping young women navigate early reproductive health concerns. She specializes in perimenopausal and menopausal care, guiding women through one of life's most significant transitions. Her practice also emphasizes LGBTQ+ health, creating an inclusive environment for all patients.
Beyond outpatient consultations, Dr. Bingaman will perform gynecologic surgeries at CRHC, eliminating the need for many patients to travel long distances for procedures.
Community Connections Matter
Life outside the clinic reflects Dr. Bingaman's commitment to Iowa. She and her husband, a 50/50 farmer, are raising four children while actively participating in their community. Her interests—cooking, gardening, reading, traveling, and running—mirror those of the patients she serves, creating natural common ground that strengthens the doctor-patient relationship.
That shared understanding of rural life matters in healthcare delivery. A physician who comprehends the demands of farming schedules, the realities of traveling for care, and the importance of community connections brings more than medical expertise to the exam room.
Expanding the Specialty Clinic's Reach
Dr. Bingaman's arrival represents another step in CRHC's ongoing commitment to bringing specialized care to southwest Iowa. The critical access hospital has consistently worked to expand its specialty clinic offerings, reducing the burden on rural residents who historically faced long drives to access certain types of care.
The addition of an experienced OB/GYN strengthens the hospital's women's health services, complementing existing offerings and providing a local option for patients who might otherwise delay or forgo necessary gynecologic care due to distance or scheduling challenges.

Women seeking a gynecologist who understands both the medical complexities of their health and the practical realities of rural life now have a proven option close to home. Dr. Bingaman's combination of military discipline, Iowa roots, and 15 years of focused practice positions her to make a meaningful difference in the region's healthcare landscape.
