After years of building relationships with patients throughout Southwest Iowa, Dr. Christopher Sporleder is returning to Clarinda Regional Health Center to continue serving families across the region. The board-certified family medicine physician brings decades of experience and a comprehensive approach to primary care that spans all ages and stages of life.
A Familiar Face Returns
Dr. Sporleder's connection to the community runs deep. He previously practiced in the area and maintained strong ties with patients and families over the years. His decision to return reflects both his commitment to the region and his appreciation for the growth and improvements at CRHC.
"I'm excited to return and continue serving both former and new patients," Dr. Sporleder shared. The relationships he built during his earlier tenure remain important to him, and he looks forward to reconnecting while welcoming new patients to his practice.
Comprehensive Training and Diverse Experience
Dr. Sporleder's educational background provides a solid foundation for family medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Science Education from Truman University before pursuing his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Family Practice Residency through Michigan State University and holds board certifications in both Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.
His professional experience extends beyond traditional family practice. Dr. Sporleder served in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps and has worked in urgent care, emergency medicine, hospice care, and healthcare leadership roles. This diverse background helps him provide care from multiple perspectives, whether managing routine wellness visits or addressing complex medical concerns.
Family Medicine Across All Life Stages
For Dr. Sporleder, family medicine means caring for patients throughout every stage of life. He treats children, adults, and seniors, building long-term relationships that help families stay healthy through prevention and early intervention.
"Primary care is often the first step in maintaining good health," he explained. Having a primary care provider helps coordinate care, manage chronic conditions, and provide preventive screenings and annual wellness visits. It also establishes a healthcare relationship before emergencies occur.
New patients are welcome, whether they're looking for a primary care provider for the first time or returning to establish care again. Dr. Sporleder commonly helps patients with annual physicals and wellness exams, blood pressure and diabetes management, heart health and preventive care, respiratory illnesses and infections, and minor injuries.
Summer Health Priorities
As summer arrives, Dr. Sporleder encourages community members to stay active and enjoy the outdoors safely while staying hydrated during hot weather. He reminds patients to keep up with routine checkups and screenings rather than waiting for symptoms to become serious.
"Make your health a priority," he advised. "Don't wait for symptoms to become serious before seeking care."
Accepting New Patients
Dr. Sporleder is now accepting patients at Clarinda Regional Health Center and looks forward to caring for families throughout the region. His return strengthens the regional health center's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services to Southwest Iowa communities.
