Clarinda Regional Health Center welcomes Dr. Fildrin Ndimbo to its primary care team, bringing comprehensive family medicine expertise to Southwest Iowa families. Dr. Ndimbo begins seeing patients this month, offering everything from wellness exams to chronic disease management.
A Diverse Medical Background
Dr. Ndimbo's path to family medicine reflects both breadth and depth of medical experience. After earning his MD from the University of Texas Health & Science Center in San Antonio, he began an Anesthesiology Residency at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Massachusetts, where he transitioned to work in the surgical ICU. His journey eventually led him to complete a Family Medicine Residency at Prisma Health Tuomey in Sumter, South Carolina, where he gained recognition for his teamwork and dedication to patient care.
His prior work includes serving as a Surgical ICU Fellow at the VA Healthcare System in Boston and working as an Anesthesia Tech at UT Health San Antonio. This diverse background provides him with a unique perspective on patient care across multiple specialties.
Why Family Medicine?
The shift from specialized medicine to family practice was deliberate. Dr. Ndimbo found himself drawn to the long-term relationships that family medicine offers—the opportunity to care for people at every stage of life, from newborns to seniors.
"It's important to me that people feel listened to and cared for every time they walk through the door," Dr. Ndimbo shares.
That philosophy centers on preventive care and community health, creating a medical home where patients feel comfortable discussing their health concerns openly.
Comprehensive Patient Services
Dr. Ndimbo provides a full spectrum of family medicine services at Clarinda Regional Health Center. His practice includes wellness exams and annual checkups, preventive screenings and immunizations, and chronic disease management for conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma. He also handles acute care needs such as illnesses, infections, and minor injuries, along with lifestyle counseling covering nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Ndimbo brings a commitment to leveraging technology for better health outcomes. He has led projects improving electronic health record portal access, helping patients engage more actively in their own care. His work on diabetes quality improvement initiatives demonstrates his focus on measurable health outcomes for patients with chronic conditions.
A Connection to Community
What drew Dr. Ndimbo to Clarinda? The strong sense of community that defines small-town Iowa. He sees rural medicine as an opportunity for more personal, connected care—the kind where providers know their patients' families and understand the context of their lives.
When he's not working, Dr. Ndimbo enjoys staying active, exploring new places, and spending time with friends and family. He looks forward to participating in community events and getting to know local families beyond the exam room.
