We're halfway through the 2022 NFL season and so far it's been a wild ride. In this week's picks, we're looking for Philadelphia to remain undefeated and for the Buffalo Bills to rebound against the 7-1 Minnesota Vikings.
The Philadelphia Eagles will look to move to 9-0 on the season Monday night as they face an NFC East rival in the Washington Commanders.
The Eagles won 24-8 in their first meeting of the season back in Week 3.
But this is a different Commanders team than the one Philly faced seven weeks ago. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke came in for the injured Carson Wentz and, like he’s wont to do, sparked new life into a struggling squad.
In the last three games with Heinicke as QB1, Washington has gone 2-1, beating the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts, while almost knocking off the NFC North-leading Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, before losing 20-17 at home.
The Eagles, though, have been as consistent as they’ve been dominant. Offensively, they’re second in the league in scoring, averaging 28.1 points per game, while also averaging just over 391 yards. Defensively, they rank in the top three in most every category, holding teams to less than 300 yards and 17 points per game.
In Monday night’s matchup, Philadelphia is favored by 11 points over Washington. The Eagles are 5-3 against the spread, but 4-0 as the home favorite. They are 1-1 ATS when favored by double-digit points.
The Commanders are 4-4-1 against the spread and 1-1 as the road underdog. This is their first game of the season they are double-digit dogs.
FrontPageBets takes a look at three best bets for the Monday night game in the City of Brotherly Love, while also picking the winner against the spread.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts over 1.5 touchdown passes (+100)
In their first meeting, Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for three touchdowns against the Commanders. He’s also 3-1 as a starting QB against Washington.
For the season, Hurts has thrown 12 touchdowns to just two interceptions and his 63.1 quarterback rating is sixth in the NFL.
In his last three games, Huts has thrown eight touchdown passes, including four against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a Week 8 win.
Washington’s defense has given up 16 touchdown passes this season, which is tied for second-worst in the league.
Commanders QB Taylor Heinicke over 17.5 rushing yards (-110)
Heinicke is known for creating something out of nothing. And sometimes that means scrambling and diving at pylons.
His athleticism and ability to extend plays is what makes him dangerous -- to other teams, as well as to his own, as it’s a fine line between making plays and making mistakes.
In his three starts, Heinicke has done more with his arms than legs. But he does have a rushing touchdown to go with five passing TDs. He’s averaging 16.7 yards per game on the ground, with a season-high of 29 in the Week 8 win over Indianapolis. Last week, he rushed four times for 17 yards.
With Philly’s stellar defense, Heinicke will need to be mobile and have chances to pick up some chunk rushing yards.
Eagles WR DeVonta Smith over 4.5 receptions (+115)
In the Week 3 win over Washington, Eagles wideout DeVonta Smith had a game-high eight catches for 169 yards and a touchdown.
For the season, Smith is tied for second on the team with 40 receptions, averaging five catches per game. He also has the second-most targets of any pass-catcher with 53. Most of his catches (82%) come on first or second down.
While he only had two catches in last week’s win over the Houston Texans, the three games prior to that, he had a combined 20 catches, including 10 against Arizona Cardinals in a Week 5 win.
