Corner Conference releases all-conference baseball teams
Essex’s Landry King and Sidney’s Cooper Hagen earned first team all-conference honors as the Corner Conference released its all-conference baseball teams Wednesday, July 8.
King, an eighth grader, and Hagen, an East Mills senior as part of the East Mills/Sidney sharing agreement for the summer, were each one of three on their respective teams to earn all-conference recognition.
Hagen hit .556 this season with five doubles and 12 RBIs. He scored 14 runs and led the Cowboys with 21 stolen bases. He was also second on the team with 30 strikeouts over 16 1/3 innings pitching.

King finished the season with three this, including one double. He scored two runs and stole four bases for the Trojans while also striking out three batters in 1 2/3 innings on the mound.
Other first team selections were Rowen Howe, Evan Laumann and Sam Sanchez of regular season conference champion Fremont-Mills, Quentin Dalton, John Deemer and Ashton Nally of conference tournament champion Bedford. Griswold’s Kolby Klindt and Brayden Lockwood and Stanton’s Nolan Case.
Essex senior Will Roberts and Sidney sophomore Gabe Blanton, also an East Mills athlete, earned second team recognition.

Roberts batted .250 for the Trojans with five hits. He scored a team-high eight runs. He added eight stolen bases and was third on the team in innings pitched with 8 2/3.

Blanton hit .286 this season with eight hits, eight runs and six RBIs. He stole six bases. His 31 strikeouts were most on the team, throwing 21 innings.
Fremont-Mills’ Gavin Crom, Carter Rycroft and Broden Zimmerman were second team players as well as Cooper Dreyer and Owen Marsh of Stanton. Nollan Smith and Calden Turner of Griswold and Bedford’s Nolan Drake and Camden Powell.
Essex sophomore Ben King earned honorable mention recognition in the infield while Sidney sophomore Zach Boyd was an honorable mention outfielder.

Boyd finished second on the Cowboys with 10 hits, two for doubles, to go with a team-high 19 runs scored and 11 RBIs. Boyd also saw time on the mound, striking out 11 over nine innings.
One of King’s three hits on the season went for extra bases. He added four stolen bases. On the mound, he struck out 11 over 10 2/3 innings.
The other honorable mention selections were Rhett Lemonds of Fremont-Mills, Dylan Reynold of Bedford, Stanton’s Noah Marsh and Griswold’s Grayson Smith.
