Shenandoah wins Iowa/Missouri Border War
The women's kickoff event on a cool and breezy Tuesday evening, May 5 had a record number of 80 ladies in attendance. After nine holes of golf, dinner was served at the Elm Street Grill. Following dinner, door prizes and flag prizes were awarded. Lori Carlson was recognized as the 2025 women's match play champion. Emily LaRock won the fitness center membership and Marcia Beecher won the Shenandoah Golf Course single membership.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, the annual Iowa/Missouri Border War was played at the Shenandoah Golf Course on Saturday and at the Duncan Hills Golf Course in Savannah on Sunday. Saturday's format was 18-hole two-man team best ball in the morning and 18-hole alternate shot in the afternoon. Sunday's format was singles matches among the 16-man teams. After Saturday's team matches, the SGC men held an 11.5-to-4.5-point lead. In Sunday's singles matches, the teams split their 16 matches 8-8, enabling the SGC team to take the Border War title 19.5 to 12.5. Congratulations to both squads for another spirited Border War battle!
The first Wednesday of the month men's stag was held on the evening of May 6. There were 54 golfers that participated in nine holes of golf followed by a meal at the Elm Street Grill.
Thirty-two teams started men's league play on Monday, May 4. They are split into two, 16 team divisions.

Upcoming events at the SGC include: 1) Turnbull Child Development Center's 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Sunday, May 17. Entry fee is $240 per team, which includes lunch and a fun pack for each golfer. Registration and lunch start at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. 2) Shenandoah Fire Department's 2nd Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, May 30. Entry fee is $200 for a four-person team with proceeds going to the Brush Truck Fund. Registration and lunch start at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11.
