Shenandoah baseball’s leader in batting average last season will continue to play baseball in college.
Senior Teagan Brunk signed Thursday, April 2, as part of Shenandoah’s Signing Day ceremony, with Sterling College.
He visited the Sterling, Kansas-based school last fall and liked it immediately.

“They have a really good physical therapy program and that’s something I’m really interested in," Brunk said. “Their baseball team is really good too. They’re at the top of their division.”
Brunk said he watched a couple team workouts when he was there and was impressed with how connected the team seemed to be.
Brunk said he expects to play first base and could do a little pitching for the Warriors and head coach Dylan Connolly next season. The NAIA school that plays in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference entered last weekend with a 17-18 record this spring.
Brunk led the Mustangs last season with a .343 batting average with eight of his 24 hits going for extra bases. He also struck out 15 batters over 15 innings with a 5.13 ERA on the mound last season.
He said prior to making the move to Kansas, he has big goals for this summer and his final season at Shenandoah.

“I’m putting in all the work I can to get ready for the upcoming season,” Brunk said, “and hopefully do really well. I’m aiming for the batting average and home runs records.”
Brunk plans to enroll in Sterling’s Physical Therapy program.
